Laduree pastels in my kitchen

My kitchen units were originally dark pine with multi coloured tiles behind them and I really wanted to lighten the room up by getting the units painted and replacing the tiles with cream ones so we contacted a local company for a quote. Once we decided to go ahead it was all systems go and I set up a mini kitchen in my dining room as the kitchen had to be sealed off for a few days to be sprayed. We chose Little Greene paint in Rusling which is a neutral colour with a very subtle hint of pink.

My inspiration for the revamp of my kitchen was Laduree in Paris. Paris is my favourite city and I’ve visited it many times and I always stop there for lunch as soon as I’ve checked into my hotel. I love everything about it…….the chandeliers, pretty teacups, macarons and especially  their boxes and ribbons which are just pastel perfection! For the colour on my kitchen walls I took a Laduree  gift bag into my local paint shop and they colour matched it perfectly.  I wanted a really nice Laduree style chandelier but didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it so shopped around until I found a very reasonable one in B&Q .

My kitchen table had black granite inserts which didn’t match the new look at all so I sprayed them with pink  Valspar paint.  I’ve used their spray paints a few times and really like the finish it gives. I have a little seating area at the far end of my kitchen and luckily for me my daughter Rebecca was buying a new sofa for her kitchen and she kindly gave me her little blue one from NEXT which matched my pastel theme perfectly.  I have lovely Sally Swannell cushions on it and hung the Laduree style mirror from Dunelm behind it which reflects the pretty chandelier.

I love having friends round for afternoon tea and wanted my kitchen to have a pretty  French patisserie feel to it so that there would be a sense of occasion when I entertain.  I like to make an effort when setting the table and always use pretty china and table decorations. I also have pretty decorative items out on display and one of my favourite things in my kitchen is my little house lamp which came from Dunelm. It originally had a beige coloured roof but I sprayed it a pastel green using Valspar spray paint.  DSC_0302 I

I have incorporated some vintage items into the decor such as this lovely green lustreware jardiniere and have displayed some of my favourite pink and green vintage teasets in my glass fronted units.  The teacup on my windowsill is from the  current Royal Albert ‘Cheeky Pink’ collection. I had a lovely shelf unit made by a local shop  and they sprayed it with Little Greene  Rusling that I had left over from the woodwork in my kitchen. It has my Hogben Pottery collection on it and a few pieces of my Emma Bridgewater.

I couldn’t be happier with the overall result and the whole room feels and looks so much brighter.  I feel as though I have a completely new kitchen and my neighbours loved it so much they had their kitchen painted by the same company Drumfin Wood Finishing who were fabulous and very professional in getting the job done quickly and to a very high standard.

Thank you so much for reading, hope you’ve enjoyed my little kitchen tour!

I love your beautiful pastel paradise! Can I please ask you where your lovely white curtains in your dining area came from?
