6F2CF336-D022-40EE-B4E1-CF0FC5D7BF22I absolutely love decorating my home for Christmas and if you follow me on FB or IG you will know that almost every corner of my home has some Christmas decor featuring! When you are working with companies for Christmas it all has to be done a bit in advance which means that the Christmas decorating has to start in November and by the time Christmas comes round I’m kind of itching to get the tree down and the house back to normal! We have 3 family birthdays straight after Christmas which is another reason I like to clear Christmas away quite quickly and I know that strictly speaking it’s supposed to be 12 days of Christmas but each to their own and I personally love getting the house cleared and back to normal.

I always feel that once everything is cleared up and packed away it gives you a chance to look at your decor with a fresh eye and this year I decided to buy a few new home accessories to brighten & lighten up a few corners of my home.

I started off in the dining room by buying another Laura Ashley Tate lamp base so that I had one on each end of my sideboard and then I started to search for new shades for them in a dusky pink colour and after exhausting lots of shops and online searches I just couldn’t find what I had pictured in my mind and I had one last search on eBay and was over the moon to find 2 discontinued Laura Ashley Cyclamen pleated shades from 2 different sellers in exactly the right shade of pink and the right size. Both shades were new and still in the cellophane packaging and I couldn’t believe my luck!

Next up was the living room which looked very drab & bare after the tree came down so instead of putting my coffee table back in that corner I decided to look for a little pink chair and remembered seeing some lovely ones in Tkmaxx so headed to Belfast for a look at a couple of their larger stores and found the perfect one for the spot!

13064FF4-AC4A-479D-9F6C-EF414DBF1253I then decided to revamp my 30 year old mahogany floor lamp by painting it in Little Greene Slaked Lime and then found the perfect shade for it in the sale in Dunelm and also bought matching shades for my other living room lamps which I’m delighted with as they make the room so much brighter at night than my previous ones.

A little pink rose plant and pink dinner candles on my mantelpiece finished off the look and I’m delighted with how much brighter the room looks by just making these little changes.

Finally I added some little fairylights from Festive lights onto my kitchen shelf unit and all that’s left of Christmas now are the piles of sweets & chocolates which I’m successfully working my way through haha!

  1. Love the Paddington bear centre piece ? Christmas is lovely one of my favourite times of the year, though it’s always good to get it over xx

  2. Oh my goodness there is not one thing I don’t like about your house!

I am sooo jealous! You’ve done such an amazing job and you have exactly my taste!
