Christmas table decor

Setting a pretty table has always been a  big passion of mine and I’m a great believer in making every occasion special and taking the time to include little details which will appeal to all my guests.  Last Christmas I used vintage  china and beautiful floral vintage glasses with lots of pastels on the table but this year I have  borrowed my daughter Rebecca’s gorgeous wedding china which is Wedgwood Vera Wang Lace and used my crystal stemmed glasses. I…

Vintage Christmas 2016

My Christmas decorating always starts at my front door as it’s the first impression people have of your home and I like it to reflect my general Christmas decor.  This year I bought a heart wreath from my local garden centre and added some ribbon & a vintage brooch to it. I had picked up some beautiful blue lanterns earlier this year from a local interiors shop and put some vintage Christmas baubles and candles inside them and they matched…

Vintage Christmas

It’s that time of year again, the changing of the seasons and when you start to feel a nip in the air. It’s my favourite time of year and I’ll take it over summer anytime.  Cosy nights in with log fires, candles, blankets and hot drinks are my idea of bliss. I always start to burn my cinnamon Yankee candles in October and I feel that Christmas music is perfectly acceptable from anytime in November!! I absolutely love the Christmas…

Ballydugan Mill-Vintage Wedding

Kyle and Emma’s stunning wedding last year at Ballydugan Mill was one of my favourite ever and I’m heading there again soon to style another beautiful event.  I covered this beautiful wedding a while back over on the fab Party Pieces blog but thought I’d pop a post on here with some of the beautiful pics from the day. The gorgeous official wedding pics were taken by the very talented Naomi Campbell and the rest of the pics here were…

Garden tea party

Warm summer days are perfect for outdoor entertaining  and I love to create pretty little areas in the garden where people can sit and relax .  For this tea party I used the gorgeous Liberty party decorations from Party Pieces as they are so pretty and ideal for summer. I wanted it to look like an outdoor room so I  hung a little chandelier at the bottom of the garden next to the trees and put out a bench with cupcake…

Lace lanterns

The first lace lanterns I ever made were for my daughter Rebecca’s wedding. I was making lace corsages for the bridesmaids with lace left over from their dresses and suddenly had a flash of inspiration and decided to cover some of the glass lanterns for the top table with the leftover lace. I’d never seen it done before but thought it would be simple enough to do. I measured out the lace to fit round the lanterns and held…

Styling with vintage books

I’ve been a book addict since I was a child and used to drive my sister mad as she was very active and loved to get outdoors whereas my nose was always stuck in a book. My first love was Enid Blyton and I devoured her books so quickly that I was a regular at our local library.  I remember being told off one day by the librarian for bringing my books back the same day as I’d taken…

Pretty vintage teacups

My love of pretty florals and pastels is evident in my vintage china collection and I do have definite favourites!  When clients come to see me regarding styling and hiring items for their special event one of the first things that they usually like to do is pick out which style and colours of teacups they would like to use.  This is especially true of brides who often like them to tie in with bridesmaids dresses and flowers etc….
